If asked, who’s the greatest soul winner ever, we hear responses like: the apostle Paul, Timothy, Peter, Alexander Campbell, Raccoon Johnson, and many other names. But we need to keep in mind who else is winning souls for himself. That’s right, it’s Satan, he is the greatest soul winner ever, the reason is, because he is relentless in his pursuit to deceive those souls in the world. (1st Peter 5:8) Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
Folks that’s all he does all day and all night, walk to and fro looking for any soul desiring to fulfill the lust of the eye, flesh and vainglory. We need to be aware of his tactics because they haven’t changed since the beginning of time, the same tactics he used in the garden are the same one’s he uses now. For example: (Gen. 3:3-6) But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
By one single word was the history of mankind changed, Satan said, “Ye shall NOT surely die”, Eve was deceived, and with that said, he became the god of this world. (2nd Cor. 4:4) In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. And this is how he did it, Satan presented the lust of the eye, “it was pleasant to the eyes”, the lust of the flesh “the woman saw that the fruit was good for food”, and vainglory “Ye shall be as gods”, “a tree to be desired to make one wise”. Now notice, that Satan tried to use the same deception on Christ in Matt. 4:1-9. The lust of the eye, “All these things will I give thee”, the lust of the flesh, “command these stones to be made bread” (Christ had just fasted for forty days), and finally vainglory “Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, And saith unto him, “If” thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down:” those same deceptions are still being used on us today. Satan knows exactly how to get us; he knows we lust after worldly possessions, and want to have power to control others. That’s why it’s so important that we study and fill ourselves with the knowledge of God’s Word, so we can arm ourselves for the battle. And be better prepared to defend ourselves from Satan’s fiery darts. The original question was, “Who is the greatest soul winner ever?” well lets see what the Bible says: (Matt. 7:13-14) Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
Which gate will you pick? Satan uses every trick in the book to deceive souls, but we have a book too “The Holy Bible”. Remember, Satan’s best tool is a proud and stagnant Christian. (John 8:44) Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
