When we think of building any sort of structure, the first thing that comes to mind is the location.
Whether the ground can support a good foundation, after all, we want that structure to stand on something solid.
After we find the best site with the best view, well, we start to dig and level the land. After we dug deep enough
and laid enough fill, we start to level the ground upon which the structure will stand. Then comes time to tie the
steel together and make the stakes and borders to hold the concrete in place. Then once the concrete is poured, the
leveling of the concrete begins, after all we want a real solid and level floor. Now once the concrete dries and
the stakes and boards have been removed, the building of the structure begins. Why? Because a solid foundation has
been laid. Now after that real solid foundation is laid, would you build a shack made of stubble or straw? Of course
not, you want to build an awesome structure, which will be able to withstand anything Mother Nature may throw at
it.
Well, what about a Christian? Do we pick the best site to build our faith?
Or do we just settle for anything that comes before us? A builder who is wise “Studies” the site, and
the ground, then he begins to build upon a solid foundation. (Matt. 7:24-25) Therefore whosoever
heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it
was founded upon a rock. But those who won’t study, or open their Bibles are like the foolish builders,
who build their structure on sand that with the slightest wind will topple. (Matt. 7:26-27) And
every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built
his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house;
and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
If we put our trust into the Gospel of Jesus Christ, whole-heartedly, we can’t be destroyed by the fiery darts
of the devil, but if we rely on our own abilities, then it’s just a matter of time before we fall right
back into the world of sin. (Rom. 6:23) For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is
eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. So always keep in mind, that in order for us to prevail over sin,
we must stand upon the foundation, which is unmovable, and that foundation is Jesus Christ. (Eph. 2:19-22) Now
therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner
stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom
ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
